Meet your teacher
SherrI Case
OCT, M.A., B.A
Hello, I’m Sherri!
My students call me Ms. Sherri or Ms. Case. I am an Ontario Certified Teacher from Toronto, and I’ve always been deeply committed to understanding how children learn and grow.
My own relationship with reading didn’t start smoothly. Growing up, my mother insisted that I read every day, and I honestly disliked it. But as I slowly built the skill, something shifted within me. Reading became a source of calm, curiosity, and confidence. It strengthened my vocabulary, expanded my worldview, and helped me make deeper connections to the people and the world around me. That experience stays with me, especially when I meet students who feel the same resistance I once felt. I want to guide them toward the same passion for reading that eventually grew within me.
After a life-changing year teaching English language learners in Thailand, I returned to Canada with a renewed commitment to children’s development and the factors that support it. In May 2018, I founded Brilliant Mind Academics. My passion for education also led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto).
Since becoming an Ontario Certified Teacher in 2022, I have taught Kindergarten and Grade 1, and over the last three years, I have focused deeply on the science of reading. Today, I combine my personal journey with my professional training to help young learners build the skills and the passion that make reading a lifelong strength.
